Education
163 educational institutions of many different types are providing the citizens of Tomsk with their fundamental right to a proper education. They are situated geographically so, that the residents of the city have the opportunity to study no matter where they live. The preschool education system includes 72 municipal institutions, 4 non-state and 7 departmental ones. Organization and supervision of young learners is currently improving and focus point of the educational system.
The general education system is represented by 4 non-state and 68 general education institutions: 51 schools, 9 gymnasiums, 7 lyceums and 1 pro-gymnasium. Contemporary learning conditions have been implemented in 77% of the general education organizations to make study more conducive while 60% of the organizations are using distance educational technologies. 58 general education institutions provide pre-profile training and specialized education.
